SoftMaker Adjusting it's Worldwide Pricing

We received the following information via a SoftMaker newsletter.

Dear SoftMaker customer:

As a German company, all of our accounting is done in Euros. To make it easier for customers in the United States and Canada, we also accept payments in US Dollars.

You probably know that the US Dollar has significantly lost value over the last six years. When the Euro was introduced in 2002, the US Dollar was near parity with the Euro, today it is worth 60 percent less.

We have tried to cope with this problem for several years, but at such a huge discrepancy, we cannot do this any longer.

This means that we have to adapt our pricing by raising (somewhat) our US Dollar prices and lowering (somewhat) our Euro prices.

Effective next Monday, here are the new adjusted prices:

** Full versions of SoftMaker Office 2008 **

Old: EUR 69.95 or US$ 79.95
New: EUR 59.95 (reduction) or US$ 79.95 (unchanged)

** Upgrades to SoftMaker Office 2008 for Windows **

Old: EUR 34.95 or US$ 39.95
New: EUR 29.95 (reduction) or US$ 44.95 (increase)

** Upgrades to SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PCs **

Old: EUR 34.95 or US$ 44.95
New: EUR 29.95 (reduction) or US$ 44.95 (unchanged)

** Upgrades to SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PCs and Windows **

Old: EUR 44.95 or US$ 54.95
New: EUR 39.95 (reduction) or US$ 59.95 (increase)

Customers in the United States and Canada will be billed in US Dollars, everybody else in Euros. We think that this new pricing more fairly reflects the value of the respective currencies.

These prices go into effect Monday, 28 July 2008.

We will revisit our pricing structure when the exchange rates change again significantly.
