Freeware of the day...... Day 14

Todays freeware is an MP3 player many may have already used if it came with your Palm handheld, I'm talking about RealPlayer for PalmOne Handhelds.

RealPlayer is not very large at about 620 KB in RAM, and if your device is supported this is a fine choice for an MP3 player for Palm OS 5. The only file types playable are MP3 and RealAudio, but most people use MP3 anyways, and RealAudio isn't actually too bad if you want to use it. Overall, the audio quality is great in my opinion, but every handheld is different. :)

All the menus are simple and functional, with little fluff, but with a familiar RealOne look and feel as well. RealPlayer just simply works great at playing MP3 files and your playlists off of the memory card, and also in the background while you use other apps. You also can use RealPlayer and your devices USB connection to link directly to your PC and upload songs and playlists using the Windows version of RealPlayer, similar to iTunes. I have tried it and it works, as soon as I started the RealPlayer on my handheld the Windows version could see it was connected. Uploading songs was a little slow, but easy to do.

It plays MP3 files and it's free, check out RealPlayer.

Note:

  • The installer is for Windows only and about 1.6 MB.
  • You will also need to download and install the Windows version of RealPlayer for direct connection to the PC to work.
